Hi I am planning to take up CAT for this year but i am sure i will not make this time fine... Actually i need a Good book to start with or good site links too... I need a book as similar as Barrons for GRE... I need to have the syallbus for CAT also.. I know i am a newbie to CAT.. so any sugestions mate... :)

CAT is not an exam for which you need years of preparation. If you are good in quants and have Basic English knowledge then you can easily get a decent score. So please don’t think that you cant make it this year, instead start preparing hard. If you are just starting your preparation then the best way to do is to start with any previous CAT paper (papers from CAT99 onwards are available on this site) or try one FLT from each section and check your level of knowledge in the CAT areas. Next is to join a good coaching center. You can go away with this but then you will be required to work a bit hard to remain in latest trend of the exam. And making one self organized and focused for a long period of 7-8 months is not that an easy job. About your question regarding books – there is a not a single book which covers all the areas of CAT – it is just impossible. The materials/notes available on this site are definitely much better and updated than books available in market. Anyhow you should try to buy study materials from any good coaching center. Do you really think working professionals get that much of time to go around reading so many books. It’s tough and more so if you don’t have the habit. Though most of the CAT gurus suggest reading all kind of books during CAT preparation for RC, I never felt so. Reading books is definitely the best habit a man can have but surely it’s not a mandatory for cracking CAT. What ever a normal person reads daily – like news paper/a business magazine & etc, provides enough food for improving overall knowledge in English.

I wud like to recommend u QUANTUM CAT from Arihant publication meerut. u might find it better than any other book available in the market.
